The old bait-and-switch. It happens in comics all the time: You see a scene, usually on a cover, that has little to nothing to do with the story. I've decided to make this disgraceful editorial decision a CMNS meme we shall now call, Why Didn't Any of That Happen?
Thusly, from Batman #37:
I am totally within my bounds to expect Bruce and Dick to slap on a pair of scrubs and do some surgery, am I not? I mean, the story is called, "Calling Dr. Batman" and they're wearing those little reflective headband dealies. But nope. Spoiler Alert: They just end up fighting gangsters who had taken over a hospital. And I suppose that's fine, but don't tease me with the notion that Batman is going to be elbow-deep in some guy when nothing of the kind happens.
So, Why Didn't Any of That Happen? (tm!)
I was so disappointed, I almost gave up on the ish entirely. But then I saw this bit of Fun with Out of Context Dialogue! (tm!):
Yeah!
And we also saw the Joker dealing with some Disembodied Floating Heads (tm!), so there's that:
Good stuff, good stuff!
The only thing that could top that would be Batman and Robin riding a single unicycle to chase down the Penguin and throw him in a monkey cage:
Wow! Thank you, Batman #38!
See you tomorrow!

Holy Penguin in a pogo stick, Batman!
This is just wonderful, especially because there is no way they couldn't just catch him by running.
*on, not in. Darn.
