The Phantom of the Department Store!

From Pep Comics #56, we have one of the most unusual M.O.'s ever.  But first, an origin:

Johnson apparently doesn't connect the dots very well.  He's canned!  Fired!  History!  Washed up!  He's yesterday's news!

And... AND!  He holds a grudge!:

Which makes him one of the most awesome, homicidal window trimmers in the history of window trimming:

But he's far too awesome for the Shield to let him just go around killing people and using their corpses for window decorations, so ....

And the Shield engages in some rather hurtful dialog:

Just in case I wasn't before, I am now totally rooting for Johnson, because you shouldn't make mean comments about someone's weight.  That's just not cool.

And Johnson further proves his awesomeness by defeating the Shield in hand-to-hand combat:

That was fair and square, folks.  Mind you, Johnson hadn't decided to put on his evilpants until the day before, so it's not like he'd had all kinds of combat training.  But who's kissing the asphalt there?  It ain't Johnson!

Johnson, being the artist that he is, once again heeds the siren call of his muse:

But again, Johnson was far too awesome to last.  He was also a tad clumsy:

Alas, poor Johnson.  We barely knew ye.  But off to the CMNS Character Hall of Fame (tm!) with you!

See you tomorrow!

Wow! I would never have thought the Window Dresser could be an awesome supervillain. And I would have been wrong.

Why did he need the Shield to go after him? Wouldn't he just get fired?
