There are a couple of things to be learned from this cover:
1) That no matter how cool or modern something may be at the time, try not to be caught saying or doing something trendy, lest you look like Superman saying "Sock it to him, baby!" All of you white chicks on Myspace throwing gang signs, I'm looking at you.
2) The Joker and Lex Luthor are two of the worst marksmen in the history of projectile weapons. It's a small wonder that Superman and Batman are still running around.
Hey, it's The Nova! No, not Nova. It's THE Nova!:
Apparently, THE Nova was The Colorblind Nova! Thanks, World's Finest #178!

Of course, snarky comments abound, but even I have my boundaries.
Last but not least, the real reason pro athletes take steroids:
I'm not a big sports fan, but I can imagine the difficulty in excelling at a sport while that is happening. One can only go so far to one's happy place during a competition.
See you tomorrow!

3) Batman is bigoted toward bald guys! Or, at least, bald bandits.
That's pretty much point-blank range that they're missing at, so I have to wonder if the two of them simply need glasses, and are too vain to get them.
Fun fact: There's a minor character in the goofy wrestling manga (Japanese comic) Kinnikuman who's named Specialman. He had a football-player motif, so I'm guessing that word had a different meaning back in the seventies
The superheroes look more like they're dancing than they're cheering the villains on to me. :p
That aside, I would actually like to see a duel between luthor and the joker... without the guns that is. :P
And is it me, or is the Nova basically ripping off wonder woman's golden lasso? nobody was able to break out of the golden lasso no matter how thin and flimsy it seemed.
With The Nova's "golden" cape, you apparently are powerless against it no matter how flimsy it seems.
And is it me, or is the Nova a tad bit too happy to be standing so closely to the batman like that?
Wonderful post -- why don't you have a "print this" button?
