Actually, it makes perfect sense to me. In Australia, the term "nursing" is used in a much broader sense than in North America, where it's pretty much restricted to breastfeeding. The "back to health" point is implied based on context. It's still funny when the girls at the office bring a new baby in and I ask them if I can have a nurse... meaning that I'd like to hold the child, not that I'd like to give it hairballs.
