Smashing! Gear! Clark Kent Becomes the Most Popular Disk Jockey Wapshire Ever Had!

You know, I have Superman #182 in my "to read" que, but I have no confidence that I'll be able to add anything to what Contributor Robert Gillis has provided.

Check it out:

For those of you who don't know who "Murray the 'K'" was, here's his official web site.

It's a pretty transparent rip-off for Clark to be "Clark the 'K'," but then again, the U.S. came up with the Monkees, so we can't complain too much.

And there's singing!

And I'm not even sure how we get past this:

I can't promise that I won't add anything when I get to Superman #182, but you can see why I ran this without having the whole story.  Great stuff, Robert!

See you hepcats at our swingin' soiree on Monday, you gear larks!

And then all those girls "accidentally" fell down a flight of steps, broke their necks, and died. Because Superman is all about truth, justice, and rubbing out anyone who discovers his secret.

Is this the first example of Superman's Amnesiac Kissing power? And here I thought Margot Kidder was the first recipient for all these years...

I used to see the word gear used a lot in, of all places, the Charlton Heroes books of the 60s. I had to look it up the first time, but the Google machine hadn't been invented. A few years later I found a slang dictionary, but I had figured it out by then. Sill, at least we know Ted Kord as Blue Beetle was gear.

I can't wait until you get to "Planet o The Capes", though that might have been an issue of Jimmy Olsen. Still: relevance!
