Captain Swastika! Oooooh!

Oh, Pep Comics... you always deliver.  These are from the Hangman story in ish #29!

And now, another installment of

Well... Touche! (tm!)

Well... Touche! (tm!)

********

Suddenly! (tm!)

And so, for no particular reason, I still celebrate the Village People:

Let's finish things off with some CMNS Sound Effect Theater! (tm!)

I understand the "woomph," and maybe even the "splat," but why did the Hangman's head go "bong" when struck?  That's just peculiar.

See you tomorrow!

You lost me with the queer joke. So very wrong.

Yeah, I'm pretty slow to jump on use of the word "queer" as a gag, but sometimes the segue is just too much. I'm not made of stone, after all. It's all in love, of course.

I don't know, it looks like the Hangmans head is hitting that post and that that may be what the "Bong" is supposed to be. Onomatopoeia'a are difficult in the best of times. One of the limitations of the comic book medium.

I'm not made of stone either. It's insulting. Because you doubled down on it, I've got to stop following your blog. It's your blog and you have every right to post whatever you want on it, no matter how demeaning.

I myself don't think it should be considered insulting. Adam didn't disparage gays in any way.

Nothing to apologise for there.

Wow... sorry you feel that way. If you read over my blog, you'll find that I'm very outspoken in my love and support (particularly support for equal rights under the law) of the homosexual community. For what it's worth, it was more that the term was being used in a naval setting. I mean, the Village People were an outwardly homosexual group, and this panel took place "In the Navy." I certainly wasn't trying to demean or offend anyone. However, the use of the word is technically informally derogatory according to the dictionary, so I can see why some might take issue. I didn't believe it to be so at the time of the posting because the word has been used in a non-derogatory manner (ie, the program "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"). But as my goal is to promote an environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected and appreciated, I have amended the post to remove the panel. Comedy always runs the risk of offending, and I apparently crossed the line, so all I can do is change the post and apologize. Thanks to everyone who recognized what is in my heart and voiced their support!

I refer everyone to this interesting take on the use of the word: http://gaylife.about.com/cs/gaylifeglossary/a/queer.htm Basically, it is what is in your heart and gays have embraced the word. I guess since I considered it a positive term (I have called myself a "queer ally," which is a term I learned through my Straight Against Hate association), I didn't see the harm. So, the more I look at it, the more confused I become that anyone took issue. But until I lose that confusion, I'll err on the side of caution.

Just be yourself. You didn't mean anything by it. The only thing you can control is yourself, not what others think of you. If someone found it offensive and wishes to stop following your blog, that is their decision and there is not much you can do about it.

True... but it cuts me when I inadvertently do harm. It's one thing when I *intend* to take a jab at someone or a group. But you're right... all I can do is be who I am, which is someone trying to bring a laugh to everyone's day.
