Keep Your Hands Off Me, You Bad Boy! Take Dees!

Hmmmm... the General is acting a little peculiar in this bit from the Sergeant Boyle story from Pep Comics #23:

Okay... everyone follow that?  What could be causing the General to act in such a way?

I don't know what the potency situation is with "marijuana extract," but I have to say it's dang impressive.  Usually, marijuana use simply results in excessive Doritos consumption followed by a run for cheap tacos.  General be trippin' yo.  Word.

Disclaimer:  Avoid the Devil's Parsley, kids.  Drugs are bad.

It's interesting to come across a reference to marijuana, since the later comics code prohibited any mention of drugs.

Well, the Comics Code actually didn't prohibit "any mention of drugs" as proven by the famous and or infamous Spider-Man drug issue. You simply wouldn't get the Comics Code seal of approval.

What? A Mickey?! Thank the Lord it wasn't a "Sherman Cigarette"!!

I love how happy the General is that he can go somewhere where he can play drums all day long. Sign me up! ...or actually, no. Never mind. When you think of it, that would be pretty irritating and boring after a while.

What is up with having tons of guys in white coats ready to jump into action? Do army bars have a high percentage of "Mickey" incidents?

Well, Marvel dude, that a Comics Code approved comic couldn't deal with drugs means that the Code prohibited it.

Hmm, Yeah, I guess you are correct Aaron. The CC prohibited it. I was incorrect. :-) I guess what I was trying to say is that the Comics Code Authority, in the end, actually had no Authority. Which (I think) that we would agree on.

This made me think, so I looked on Wikipedia (I know I know, it's wikipedia) and the part about "Updating the Code" address' this and is pretty interesting.

Yeah, the code wasn't censorship in the sense that there were any penalties for violating it. It was voluntary self-censorship.
