Lizard People, Gorillas and Globes Wednesday!

I rather enjoyed the premiere of V last night on ABC. For those of you like me who are old enough to remember when "Eye of the Tiger" was considered a rockin' tune, you may share my fond memories of the original mini-series (times two) and the short-lived television series. The revamped version shows a lot of promise and some great casting (except Scott Wolf, who just annoys me in everything he does). They took the premise and character development that made the original great back in the day, and prettied it up with great special effects and tight scripting.

Now, I will say that I forsook the marathon of the previous version that was on ScyFy on Sunday. This was partly because I wanted to distance myself from it when I watched the new series and partly because I was afraid that, like many things, it wasn't as good as I recall.

When the original version was canceled, the one-and-only season had ended with a cliffhanger. So, what to do to save the day? Comics to the rescue! The 18 issue run of V put out by DC Comics in 1985 gave the whole thing a final ending. It wasn't a great ending, but you take what you can get when a series is unexpectedly canceled.

So, (SPOILER ALERT!) the lizard people walk among us, saying they are in need of water. What could have caused this to happen to their proud civilization?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Exhibit "A":

Yup. Clear comic-book evidence that it was Superman who took all the lizard people's water. Yet they didn't mention that in last night's episode. Why are they covering for Superman? The mystery deepens.

And yes, I am quite proud of myself that I was able to produce a panel of Superman destroying a water supply of lizard people less than 24 hours after V premiered. It's a shame there's no money in blogging, because I should rightfully be dirty filthy rotten stinking rich at this point.

But, even more importantly, how long has it been since we've seen Green Arrow fight a gorilla? Well, neighbor, that's too long:

Thanks, World's Finest #123!

Here's a fun ad for a globe. Well, about as fun as an ad for a globe can be:

I cropped most of it because I was afraid that the sheer pleasure of seeing an ad for a globe might overwhelm you. But I did take note of this selling feature:

Yeah, right before you put little Billy and Susie to bed, let's review the body count in the various Theaters of War, shall we? Pleasant dreams, kids!

See you tomorrow!
