No, no, no. UCLA is in SOUTHERN CA. I lived in NORTHERN CA for 10 years (and loved it and all the people therein). If this scene took place at Berkeley, yeah, it would be a no brainer. But since it's SOUTHERN CA, I'd like to offer my opinion that they are musicians who dressed the part but cannot remember how to play their instruments. Hence the confusion.
